As I’ve mentioned before, I spend a lot of time in my car. Driving back and forth from Des Moines several times a week for appointments gives me a lot of free time. On most days, that free time is filled with music. I recently came across a music journal challenge, and decided that it would be fun to reflect on (plus, I'm still fighting some pretty brutal writer's block). I always joke around with people that my music is very eclectic and that came out pretty strongly in my list. You’ll find just about everything including country, christian, rap, pop, alternative, show tunes, hymns, and more.
During the process of looking through my music collection, I realized just how big of a role music has played in my life and how it has helped mold me into the person I am today. Music has always been part of my life; whether it was music played in my house or in cars growing up, songs sang to me by my parents, piano lessons, church, band and choir at school, the songs played in my bedroom late at night as a teen, amazing concert memories, songs that remind me of someone or a certain time and place, the music that plays in my earbuds during my daily workouts and the music that keeps me company when I'm driving...it's everywhere.
I tried to keep it to one song per prompt, but there's a few that I couldn't help but add more than one. Here's the list I came up with:
